The invention relates to the use of plasma isolated from blood samples from the coronary sinus of patients who have suffered a pathological cardiac episode, preferably an acute myocardial infarction, for stimulating the survival, regeneration and/or repair of the damaged organ. Furthermore, the invention also relates to the use of said isolated plasma for obtaining growth factors and/or for producing a pharmaceutical composition that comprises said plasma and is designed to stimulate the survival, regeneration and/or repair of organs, specifically the heart. The invention also relates to a method for treating patients suffering from cardiac disease, which comprises the administration of a therapeutically effective amount of a composition that comprises plasma isolated from the coronary sinus of patients suffering from said cardiac disease.
