Use of oritavancin for the prevention and treatment of anthrax

Glycopeptide antibiotic for use in a method of prevention of a B. anthracis infection in a subject, which comprises administering to a subject at risk of exposure to a B. anthracis infection as a single dose an amount of a glycopeptide antibiotic sufficient to prevent a B. anthracis infection, thereby preventing a B. anthracis infection in a subject, in which the glycopeptide elantibiotic is oritavancin, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt, hydrate or solvate thereof, or a mixture thereof.
