Downconverter with polarization diversity receiver for coherent optical polarization multiplexing, which can be monolithically integrated. Said downconverter, network polarization diversity of the prior art is replaced by a coupling network and polarization diversity, power phase, which reduces, or even eliminates, the need to use rotators and separators polarization with high ratios of extinction. This allows the functionality of polarization diversity with high accuracy based on individual components of lower performance (in terms of its ability to manipulate the polarization), which facilitates monolithic integration of the complete receiver in a single wafer. Also object of the invention is a coherent optical receiver comprising said downconverter with polarization diversity for multiplexed optical signals polarization.
