Phosphatidylcholine for use in a method to alleviate at least one symptom of ulcerative colitis, including said method: identify an individual who has steroid-dependent ulcerative colitis; and administering to said individual a therapeutically effective amount of phosphatidylcholine, thereby alleviating at least one symptom of said ulcerative colitis.
