A pharmaceutical composition comprising clevidipine or any of its pharmaceutically acceptable salts as an active ingredient and a degradant having the following formula: wherein the amount of degradant is approximately equal to, or less than, approximately 1.5% by weight on a basis by weight and in which the pharmaceutical composition is prepared as an oil-in-water emulsion having a pH of about 6 to about 8.8.
