An apparatus (14) that eliminates the scales of the metal sheet (16), the apparatus comprising: a stripper (26) that receives pieces of metal sheet (16) and removes the scales from at least one surface (106, 108) of the piece of sheet metal as the piece of sheet metal moves in a first direction through the stripper; a supply of a means for removing scales (105) that communicates with the stripper (26) and which supplies the means for removing scales to the stripper, the means for removing scales (105) comprising a grout that includes shot; a pair of wheels (68, 88) in the stripper (26) positioned adjacent at least to the single surface of the piece of sheet metal (16) passing through the stripper, a first wheel and a second wheel of the pair of wheels that they have a first (78, 98) and a second (82, 102) respective rotation axes, the first wheel and the second wheel that are positioned in the stripper (26) to receive the means for removing scales (105) from the supply of the medium to eliminate scales; and at least one driving source (64, 84) operatively connected to the first wheel and the second wheel to rotate the first wheel and the second wheel by means of which the rotation of the first wheel causes the means to eliminate scales ( 105) received by the first wheel is driven from the first wheel against at least the single surface (106, 108) practically from one side to another of the entire width of the piece of sheet metal (16) that passes through the stripper (26 ) and the rotation of the second wheel causes the means for removing scales (105) received by the second wheel to be driven from the second wheel against at least the single surface (106, 108) practically from one side to another of the entire width of the piece of sheet metal (16) that passes through the stripper (26); wherein the first wheel rotates in a first direction of rotation and the second wheel rotates in a second direction of rotation, the first direction of rotation that is opposite the second direction; wherein the second wheel separates from the first wheel along the first direction a sufficient distance such that the means for removing scales (105) driven from the second wheel practically does not interfere with the means for removing scales (105) driven from the first wheel; wherein the first wheel and the second wheel are positioned adjacent to the opposite side edges that define the width of the metal sheet (16) with the metal sheet centered between the first wheel and the second wheel; and wherein the means for removing scales (105) impacts against at least the sole of the upper surface (106) and the lower surface (108) of the metal sheet (16) in a manner that eliminates virtually all scales of a surface of the metal foil, characterized in that the grit that forms the grout is introduced into the supply of the grout to the stripper (26) with an ejector (308); the ejector (308) has a nozzle (333) adapted to produce a vortex flow; and each of the first and second wheels has a grout inlet that can be selectively positioned in an adjustable manner relative to the respective axis of rotation of the wheel.
