An implantable article comprising a combination of molecular weight polyethylene ultrahigh crosslinked and vitamin E, wherein the combination of molecular weight polyethylene ultrahigh crosslinked and vitamin E has a swelling ratio of less than 4 and the combination may be obtainable by a method comprising the steps of: - combining vitamin e with polyethylene ultrahigh molecular weight to form a combination of polyethylene, ultra-high molecular weight, - consolidating the combination of polyethylene ultra-high molecular weight, and - irradiating the combination of polyethylene ultra-high molecular weight electron beam radiation at a dose rate of at least 1 hour MegaGrey.
