A heat exchanger (30) with microchannels, comprising: a plurality of heat transfer tubes (36); a manifold (34) for communicating the refrigerant into said plurality of heat transfer tubes; and an insert (32) of distributor connectable to a coolant source and having a plurality of holes (42) on an outer periphery of said insert distributor, characterized by dividers (44) an outer wall of said insert distributor such that a plurality of plenums (46) defined and associated with said plurality of tubes heat transfer, wherein the plurality of holes are arranged to evenly distribute the refrigerant in two phases in the plurality of plenums.
