MANAGING INFORMATION IN A MULTI-HUB SYSTEM FOR COLLABORATIVE PLANNING AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

A method and system for managing information in a multi-hub system for supplychain management and collaborative planning. A technique is presented frommanaging communications in a multi-hub model. First, consistency of datathroughout the system is maintained by limiting which entities in the supplychain have the authority to write to the data. Various techniques fordetermining which entity has such authority are presented. Second, therelative complexity of transactions is determined by identifying how muchcomputer processing is required. Transactions that require little processingare handled by lightweight servers (114); transactions that required moderateto extensive processing are sent to heavyweight servers (112). The end user(131) receives information about the transaction more rapidly because thetransactions are processed more efficiently.
