A method for calibrating machines (10) suitable to effectan analysis of a blood sample (12) by means of measuringthe erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and/or aggregationof the red corpuscles, wherein said measurement is effectedby exploiting the optical density kinetics obtained fromthe measurement of the variation in the optical density ofthe blood sample (12) in an interval of time, comprises ameasuring step in which, by means of the same machine (10)with which the measurement of the optical density iseffected on said blood sample (12), a measurement iseffected of the optical density of two latexes (23a, 23b,23c), or turbidimetric samples. Each of the two latexes(23a, 23b, 23c) has a known optical density, reproducible,measurable and different from each other. The method alsocomprises a comparison step, in which the difference iscalculated between the values of optical density of thelatexes (23a, 23b, 23c) as obtained from the measurementperformed by the machine (10) and the known values ofoptical density, to allow to determine at least onecorrection factor usable to calibrate said machine (10).
