Binding element for manufacturing a binding file, whereby this binding elementis a semi-finished product out ofwhich the binding file can be made, and whereby this binding element is a flatbinding element consisting of a support which isformed of a central strip and two plates on either side of the strip, whichsupport is provided with a covering provided over oraround said support and which is provided with hotmelt glue on the outsideextending on the outside surface on one side of thebinding element and on the edges of the opposite side thereof.
