A papermaking forming fabric, comprises: a set of top CMD yarns interwovenwith a set of top MD yarns to form a top fabric layer; a set of bottom MDyarns interwovenwith a set of bottom CMD yarns to form a bottom fabric layer; and a set ofbinding yarns thatinterweaves with and binds together the top and bottom fabric layers. Thefabric has aDrainage Factor (DF) of greater than 2Ø The fabric is arranged such that:RSMW/RSML 1, and PSMW PSML; wherein PSMW = the CMD width of an interstice betweenadjacenttop MD yarns; PSML = the MD width of an interstice between adjacent top CMDyarns;RSMW = the CMD width of an interstice between adjacent bottom MD yarns; RSML =theMD width of an interstice between adjacent bottom CMD yarns. The papermakingformingfabric may have improved drainage characteristics.
