An enhanced oil recovery process that may be used in light oil reservoirsincludes aninitial injection of air into the formation through an injection well tosupport the in-situcombustion and mobilize formation fluids. Initially, gasproduction isrestricted for the purpose of increasing the gas injection to recovery ratioto pressurize theformation. With an increase in formation pressure, the rate of air injectionis graduallyreduced as the rate of recovered flue gas injection increases. Combustionfrontpropagation in the formation is controlled by the rate of production at eachactivelyproducing well to ensure good horizontal sweep across the well and to preventchanneling to one or more production wells.
