A method and device to correct hammertoes. The device includes an elongateddevice having a first threaded end with a first thread pitch and a secondthreaded end with asecond thread pitch. A core connects the first and second threaded ends. Whenthe implantis implanted into a joint and rotated about its longitudinal axis when matedwith a driver, atarget joint may be compressed using the first thread pitch on a distal bonein the joint andthe second thread pitch on a proximate bone in the joint. The first and secondthread pitchesmay be the same but in opposing directions, may be different but in the samedirection, ormay be different and in opposing directions.
