HIGH THROUGHPUT BINARIZATION/DE-BINARIZATION OF A CABAC SYNTAX ELEMENT

A system utilizing a high throughput binarization/de-binarization for CABAC in HEVC is described. The system may include an electronic device configured to an electronic device of a decoder, the electronic device configured to recover a codeword from a bitstream; decode a first portion of the codeword; determine whether a value of the first portion is equal to a preset value; responsive to determining that the value of the first portion is equal to the preset value, decode a remaining second portion of the codeword using fixed length coding; and recover at least one selected from the group comprising a first parameter that specifies a previous frame to be utilized as a reference for inter frame decoding a current frame and a second parameter that specifies a difference between a quantization parameter of the current block and a quantization parameter of another block.
