Detecting analytes in a sample, comprises providing a solid phase of a nonporous carrier with two separated immobilized analyte-specific receptor test areas, contacting the sample, solid phase and signal-providing marker molecule labeled free-analyte-specific receptor labeled, and detecting the generated signal on the test areas and determining the presence or amount of analyte in the sample. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) the solid phase used in the method above; (2) the use of the solid phase as part of an immunoassay; and (3) a test kit for carrying out the method above, comprising the solid phase of (1) and detection reagents.
