The apparatus has an ultraviolet-C light emitting diode (32) transmitting ultraviolet light in a solar blind range from 240 nanometer to 290 nanometer, where a programmable controller controls the light emitting diode. An indicating unit (35) e.g. indicator light, is controlled by the controller, where a display unit indicates if the light emitting diode is switched-on. The controller is programmed in such a manner that the controller produces a calculated or freely programmed profile that corresponds to the intensity progress of an approaching guided missile.
