ADHESIVE COMPOSITION FOR CIGARETTE SEAM AND A PREPARATION METHOD THEREFORE

This invention disclosed a liquid adhesive composition for cigarette seam and a preparation method therefore. The adhesive composition comprises anhydride-esterified natural starch with a higher molecular weight and the said composition includes urea. The adhesive composition further may include other additives such as defoamers and/or biocides. The said preparation method includes a first step which is (i) dispersing natural starch in water under heating and adding a substituted succinic acid anhydride to form a starch ester (ii) adjusting p H value of the mixture to a range of 5.0 to 6.8 (iii) cooling down and adding amylase and subsequently (iv) adding urea, as well, if desired (v) adding other additives. The adhesive composition of this invention can be used in high-speed production lines of cigarettes as a seam adhesive. The said adhesive has no negative effect on smoking quality test and during burning of the cigarette does not form benzene derivates.
