The invention relates to gas-diffusion electrodes for rechargeable, electrochemical metal-oxygen cells, said electrodes comprising at least one porous carrier and one or more layers which contain at least one catalyst for a metal-oxygen cell and which are applied to one side of the porous carrier. Said electrodes are characterised in that at least one function-relevant parameter in the layer(s) containing catalysts changes in a continuous or discontinuous manner as the distance of said layer from the porous carrier increases. The invention also relates to methods for producing gas-diffusion electrodes of this type and to rechargeable, electrochemical metal-oxygen cells containing gas-diffusion electrodes of this type.
