The invention relates to a cosmetic agent comprising in a cosmetically acceptable carrier, each based on the entire agent a) 0.03 to 10 wt.-% of purine and/or purine derivative(s) and b) hydrogen peroxide at an amount of from 0.001 up to a maximum of 5 wt.-%, the use of the agent for carrying out the oxidative step within the course of a permanent deformation of keratin fibers, and a method for the permanent deformation of keratin fibers, particularly human hair, using said agent.
