[Problem] To provide a device with a videophone function, which enables the reduction of the power consumption of the device, the reduction of the processing load of the device, and the effective use of network resources.[Solution] A portable telephone (1) is provided with: a communication unit (19); a first image capturing unit (20); a voice input unit (15); a voice output unit (16); a display unit (13) which has a display surface (3); a call control unit (32) which, when a moving image and voice from a communication party device are received, displays the received moving image on an image display area (RA) set on the display surface (3) and outputs the received voice from the voice output unit (16); and a line-of-sight detection unit (31) which detects the position of the line of sight of a user on the display surface (3). The call control unit (32) outputs, to the communication party device, a transmission suppression signal for suppressing the transmission of the moving image on the basis of the deviation of the position of the line of sight from the image display area (RA), and outputs, to the communication party device, a suppression cancellation signal for cancelling the suppression of the transmission of the moving image on the basis of the return of the position of the line of sight into the image display area (RA).
