The invention relates to the field of building. A building block for stretcher course masonry in the form of a rectangular parallelepiped having stretcher, header and bed faces and being provided with at least two through-holes positioned consecutively along the stretcher face, said through-holes being vertical and rectangular in cross-section and the longitudinal axis of each hole being perpendicular to the plane of the bed face. The thickness of a wall separating a through-hole at one extremity from a header face, in the direction from one header face to the other header face and parallel to the surface of the stretcher face, is less than the thickness of a wall in the same direction which separates through-holes by the thickness of a joint between adjacent header faces in a stretcher course.
