The present invention relates to a system for managing the IFC version by comparing two or more IFC files produced with a time interval so as to trace the alteration history and to a method for managing the IFC file version thereof. A system for managing the IFC version according to the present invention is characterized by including: a compared objects treating unit for acquiring the first IFC file attribute information concerning a first IFC file and the second IFC file attribute information concerning at least one second IFC file; a GUID comparison engine for comparing the first IFC file GUID collection consisting of the first IFC GUIDs of the first IFC file attribute with the second IFC file GUID collection consisting of the second IFC GUIDs of the second IFC file attribute; and a space object comparison engine for comparing the first IFC file space object information collection consisting of the first IFC file space object of the first IFC file attribute with the second IFC file space object information collection consisting of the second IFC file space object of the second IFC file attribute. The present invention enables quick and systematic recognition of the altered part of the compared IFC file, quick and systematic recognition of the altered part of the IFC file corresponding data stored by extracting the attribute information from the compared IFC file, significant improvement of the comparison speed by comparing the altered part regarding only the space object in the IFC file including the information of a huge number of objects, systematic prevention of insufficient management of the altered information frequently occurring in the IFC version management such as the conventional version management through file names and the memo of the authoring tool, and providing the users with the IFC version management services.
