The method involves attaching the piston (13) on the piston rod (15) and connecting the piston with the piston rod such that the piston is axially immovable on the piston rod. A buffer sleeve (18) is attached on the piston rod, and the buffer sleeve is connected with the piston rod by laser beam welding such that the buffer sleeve is axially immovable on the piston rod. The buffer sleeve is made of thermoplastic plastic material, particularly polyphenylene sulfide, polyphenylene vinyl or fiber reinforced polyamide. An independent claim is included for a piston-piston rod unit with a laser welding seam.
