A method is disclosed for characterising a PV module comprising a PV cell having a thermal loading thereon, a heat sink, and a thermal connector providing a thermal path between the concentrator PV cell and the heat-sink, the method comprising: producing a transient in the thermal loading; determining a parameter associated with a change of temperature of the PV cell caused by the transient; and determining a parameter indicative of a thermal conductance of the thermal path, based on the parameter associated with a change of temperature of the PV cell. The PV module may be a concentrator PV module.;An arrangement configured to carry out such a method is also disclosed.
