Cementitious coating composition comprises at least an anti-microbial active ingredient or an antimicrobial active ingredient combination for protecting a coating from microbial attack or fouling and ensuring a long-lasting protection, in an encapsulated form. An independent claim is also included for an antimicrobial treatment of the cementitious coating composition, preferably a plastering composition, comprising applying the above mentioned coating composition in an encapsulated form.
