The present invention discloses an EOBD response method to allow response to reinforced EOBD regulations of EURO-5/6 when a breakdown occurs in related parts affecting an exhaust gas. The present invention comprises; a process to determine a detection status of breakdowns by monitoring EGR-related parts in start ON condition; and a process to shut off EGR by entering into an error mode to turn on a warning light and turning off an EGR valve; and a process to determine a target air volume for inducing lowering of combustion temperatures by application of an error-mode air volume map and to have a target air volume followed through adjustment of a throttle valve.
