An adaptive protection overcurrent control system capable of actively responding to changes in the state of a power system such as a connection between distributed power sources and fluctuations in load and a method for responding the changes in a power system are disclosed. The adaptive protection overcurrent control method for responding to changes in a power system includes a step of determining a correction value according to load current values by time section based on data about the current causing an accident of a power system before being adjusted; a step of detecting whether the power system has been adjusted; a step of calculating a new correction value or a corrected lever value for the adjusted power system; a step of detecting whether an accident has happened or not in the power system; and a step of identifying the location of the accident and performing a main protection action or a back up protection action with the accident spotted.
