The invention relates to a material in the form of a millimeter-scale object consisting of: large alumina particles having a median diameter of between 10 and 200 μm, said large particles are separated, from one interface to the other, by less than 10 μm; small alumina particles having a median diameter of between 0.5 and 10 μm, said small particles being separated, from one interface to the other, by less than 5 μm, and located in the space between the large particles; and a binder consisting of aluminum phosphate, said binder being located in the space between said small and large particles, wherein said material has a mesoporous volume, measured by mercury porosimetry, of between 0.2 and 2 mL/g, a macroporous volume, measured by porosimetry, of between 0.05 and 0.2 mL/g, and a BET specific surface area of between 80 and 350 m2/g.
