The present invention relates to a sound quality evaluation method for vehicle noise using a gammatone filter, and an apparatus thereof. The sound quality evaluation method for vehicle noise prepared by the present invention comprises the following steps of: obtaining noise signals by vehicle depending on the time; filtering the noise signals with a gammatone filter bank composed of multiple gamma filter channels; obtaining energy distribution depending on the time according to each noise signal by multiple gammatone filter channel; adding up each energy distribution obtained by each gammatone filter channel, on the frequency axis; calculating a spectrum kurtosis value for the noise signals using the added energy distribution; calculating a correlation coefficient between subjective estimations corresponding to audibility evaluation results of an examinee by the noise signal obtained for each vehicle, and the spectrum kurtosis values obtained by the noise signal.
