Method for detecting speeding violations with restrictive data storage, in which vehicle tracking (5) object tracking data by means of a radar device (1) and at the same time image tracking data by means of a camera device (2) are detected. The image tracking data will only be cached if there is an initial suspicion and stored permanently if the initial suspicion is confirmed. Image data which are not part of the image tracking data and have been buffered are rendered unrecognizable or not permanently stored, whereby only a restrictive data storage takes place.
