The present invention provides a method for separating kish graphite which collects the kish graphite extracted from a cooling step of molten iron during a steel making process, and comprises the following steps: a distribution and assorting step for distributing byproducts of steelmaking, and assorting samples containing the kish graphite with a predetermined particle size; a floating and assorting step for producing an aqueous solution using the samples containing the kish graphite, and separating the kish graphite samples floating on the surface of the solution; a crushing step for separating iron and iron oxide particles from the samples by crushing the separated kish graphite samples; and a separation and collection step for separating and collecting the crushed kish graphite samples from the iron and iron oxide particles. The present invention additionally provides a method for preparing graphene or a graphene-like material from the kish graphite.
