The present invention relates to an elevator control system and a method thereof. The elevator control system comprises: an elevator unit which elevates a cage of an elevator; call switch units which are installed in multiple floors respectively in order to call the elevator unit; sensing units which are installed in multiple floors respectively in order to sense the number of people who wait for the elevator unit at a platform in each of the multiple floors; and a control unit which moves the elevator unit to a floor where the number of people waiting at a platform is the largest as sensed by the sensing unit when two or more call switch units are selected. The elevator control system can effectively operate an elevator by sensing the number of people waiting at a platform and operating the elevator in order to be stopped at a floor where the largest number of people waits for the elevator.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2014
