The present invention relates to a device and method for recognizing a media stream. The method according to embodiments of the present invention comprises the following steps: capturing at least one frame from a media stream which is targeted to be recognized; producing a inquiry message including a selected frame from among one or more captured frames; transferring the produced inquiry message to at least one server; receiving an answer message including an analyzed result on the selected frame from one or more servers; and summing up and outputting the result received from one or more servers.
