The present invention relates to a device for verifying the compatibility of an electronic book DRM system and a method thereof. The present invention is provided to set the kind of a message and dependent data corresponding to verification attribute according to an electronic book client terminal or an electronic book DRM server and to verify the compatibility, the security, the authentication, and the issue of electronic book DRM of an verified object through the exchange of a verification message generated based on a license obtainment protocol, thereby securing the compatibility of a license issuing process between difference electronic book DRM systems. The present invention is provided to generate a verification process according to the kind of the verified object, the kind of the message, and the dependent data and to change the sequence of the verification process and the dependent data according to a predetermined verification level, thereby verifying license issuing compatibility between the difference electronic book DRM systems.
