METHOD FOR REMEDIATING DNAPL COMTAMINATED SOIL

The present invention relates to a method for restoring soil that is contaminated by dense non-aqueous phase liquid (DNAPL). By means of the method according to the present invention, soil that is contaminated by DNAPL, a contaminant that is not mixed with water and is heavier than water, is irradiated with electromagnetic waves so that the viscosity of the DNAPL in the soil is reduced and fluidity of the DNAPL are increased. Then, the DNAPL having increased fluidity by means of the electromagnetic waves is separated and collected from the soil. The method can be applied as an ex-situ method using excavation and as an in-situ method using direct on-site treatment.
