The present invention relates to a catalyst for the hydrotreatment of a heavy hydrocarbon feed comprising: one or more elements from the VIB group; one or more elements from the VIII group; phosphorous within 0.1 to 9 wt% as phosphorous pentoxide for the total amount of the catalyst; vanadium within 0.25 to 7 wt% as vanadium pentoxide for the total amount of the catalyst; and one or more porous fire-resistant oxide supports. The catalyst has properties as follows: an overall pore volume of 0.3 mL/g or more; a macro pore volume defined as a pore volume having a diameter of more than 50 nm in 40% or less of the overall pore volume; a middle diameter of mesopores within 5 to 36 nm defined as pores having a diameter within 3.6 to 50 nm; and a BET surface area of 120 m2/g or more. Moreover, the present invention relates to a hydrotreatment process of a heavy residual hydrocarbon feed in a fixed layer and/or an emulated bed using the catalyst.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2014
