An apparatus and a method for calculating a hot spot temperature prediction of a transformer are disclosed. The method for calculating a hot spot temperature prediction value in a transformer comprises the steps of calculating a first hot spot temperature prediction value based on a first hot spot temperature prediction function for calculating the hot spot temperature prediction value; calculating a first time constant by substituting the first hot spot temperature prediction value into a second hot spot temperature prediction function; and calculating a second hot spot temperature prediction value by substituting the first time constant into the second hot spot temperature prediction function or a third hot spot temperature prediction function for calculating the hot spot temperature prediction value. Therefore, it is possible to accurately calculate the hot spot temperature of the transformer and to precisely measure a degree of degradation of the transformer.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2014
