The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus to determining an analog beam forming vector when a base station in a multiuser multiple input/multiple output (MU-MIMO) communications system uses a hybrid beam forming antenna which performs a beam forming in two steps using an analog beam forming group composed of a plurality of antennas and a digital beam forming group for signals which have undergone an analog beam forming. The hybrid beam forming antenna uses analog bean forming and digital beam forming at the same time, thereby providing better performance, when compared to using the analog beam forming alone, and less complexity, when compared to using the digital beam forming alone. A gain, which is obtainable at a beam forming terminal, is affected by the analog beam forming. The method and the apparatus according to the present invention determine the multiuser analog beam forming vector in terms of an average capacity obtainable at a digital beam forming terminal, when using an average beam direction at an analog terminal and statistic properties for angle dispersions only.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2014
