Coumarin which is an active antifouling compound and a derivative thereof are separated from cinnamon tree Cinnamumum loureiroi. Antifouling activity is measured on representative flexible attached organisms such as Ulva pertusa, Navicula annexa and the like. Chemical ingredients exhibit antifouling activity is coumarin, hydroxycoumarin, coumaric acid and cinnamic aldehyde by the analysis of nuclear magnetic resonance and high-resolution mass spectroscope data. 18.4 mg of the coumarin, 6.3 mg of the hydroxycoumarin, 9.8 mg of the coumaric acid and 14.7 mg of the cinnamic aldehyde are obtained by being separated from 1.09 g of crude Cinnamomum subspecies methanol extracts. The compounds can inhibit Ulva pertusa kjellman spores with EC_50 of 0.13-0.25μg/mL and can inhibit microalgae (N. annexa) with EC_50 of 0.21-0.91 μg/mL.
