A method for controlling a multitap power supply and a multitap are disclosed. A method for controlling an operation of a multitap comprises the steps of: performing a pairing with a multitap control device based on a pairing request signal transmitted from the multitap control device; receiving an operation control signal from the multitap control device; and controlling on/off operations of at least one outlet power supply included in the multitap based on the operation control signal. The pairing request signal can contain identifier information on the multitap control device. Therefore, a standby power consumption is minimized by controlling a power supply of the multitap equipped in the home or office, thereby reducing a power consumption.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2015
