The purpose of the present invention is to provide a method for recognizing the traffic status based on an event rule using data detected by a road radar and a device thereof capable of effectively monitoring the traffic status according to a users needs and/or a given condition by efficiently utilizing collected traffic information. The method for recognizing the traffic status based on an event rule using data detected by a road radar according to the present invention includes a step for receiving traffic information including information about vehicles on the road and the road; and a step for recognizing the traffic status of the road from the traffic information by referring to the preset traffic status recognition rule.
