The present invention relates to technology for automatically setting the optimal audio output environment of a receivers television connected to a multimedia device through a digital video interface in response to multimedia content (watching a broadcast program, playing a content file) which is played back by the multimedia device such as a set-top box or a smart box. In particular, provided is technology for allowing a multimedia device to automatically set the optimal audio output environment of a receivers television through a digital video interface by reflecting the fact that the satisfaction of a content consumer greatly varies when the matching rate between the purpose of production of multimedia content and the audio output option of the television is lowered, and audio characteristics different in televisions.
