An operation method for a video device controlling an output mode according to the resolution of a video signal and the video device adopting the operation method are provided for a user to select a screen output mode according to the resolution of an input video. It is determined whether an input terminal, in which a video signal is inputted, is included in a high definition input terminal or not(S201). When the input terminal is included in the high definition input terminal, it is determined whether the resolution of the inputted video signal is included in a set high definition range(S202). When the resolution of the video signal is included in the high definition range, the video signal is outputted to a display screen in a just scan mode(S203).
