The present invention relates to a method for desulfurizing coal according to composition of a microbial growth medium and, more specifically, to a method for desulfurizing coal according to composition of a microbial growth medium. The method comprises the steps of: charging coal to a planetary mill and wet crushing the coal using stainless steel balls; culturing microorganisms oxidizing iron and sulfur on a growth medium where iron and sulfur are added to grow acidophilic strains; and mixing the wet-crushed coal with a basal medium, and inoculating the acidophilic strains into the mixture to cause biological oxidation, wherein the basal medium contains (NH_4)_2SO_4 3.0 g, KCl 0.1 g, K_2HPO_4 0.5 g, MgSO_47H_2O 0.5 g, and Ca(NO_3)_24H_2O 0.01 g.
