A portable communication apparatus including smart TV control function and a method for controlling smart TV using the same are provided. The portable communication apparatus includes: a storage unit storing information about a smart TV control command system; a control unit determining whether have a network connection with a smart TV based on predetermined conditions; a user interface receiving the smart TV control command to transmit it to the control unit; and a communication interface unit connecting a smart TV and a network according to the control of the control unit and then transmitting the smart TV control command to the smart TV; wherein a control command inputted through the portable communication apparatus is transmitted through the network after connecting a network between the portable communication apparatus and the smart TV when a predetermined, certain command is inputted. Thus, people can use their own portable communication apparatus to control a smart TV. Thus, a producer can reduce the inconvenience of making a remote controller to control a smart TV, and a user can user his own portable communication apparatus to control a smart TV, reducing the inconvenience of finding a remote controller to control a smart TV.
