PURPOSE: A UPR signal transduction gene Ire1 and Hxl1 for treating mycotic infection or encephalomeningitis is provided to detect effective candidate materials and to ensure antifungal effects. CONSTITUTION: A method for screening an antifungal agent comprises: a step of contacting a sample to a cell containing Hxl1 protein of sequence number 1 at 35-40 deg. C.; a step of measuring Hxl 1 protein level or activation; and a step of determining the same as an antifungal agent when the protein level or activation is down-regulated. The cell is Cryptococcus neoformans. An antifungal pharmaceutical composition contains an antisense or a siRNA(small interference RNA) oligonucleotide which is complementary to a nucleotide sequence of sequence number 2.
