The present invention relates to an apparatus for reading a passport having a first zone including optical information (P) of a traveler. The apparatus of the present invention includes a housing which has a first area, on an upper plane, having a center area where the first zone is placed and a peripheral area formed around the center area, and has an inner space; a color chart which is arranged on a bottom plane of the housing corresponding to the peripheral area, and includes a reference color having an inherent RGB value; a photographing part which is installed in the inner space, and generates and outputs an image signal including a first image signal and a second image signal obtained by photographing the center area and the peripheral area respectively; an RGB value calculation part which is connected to the photographing part, and calculates the reference color included in the second image signal and an RGB value of the first image signal; and a control part which is connected to the RGB value calculation part, and comprises an RGB control part controlling the RGB value of the first image signal using the inherent RGB value and the RGB value of the reference color.
