PURPOSE: A composition containing a Prunella vulgaris var. lilacina extract is provided to ensure antioxidation and to prevent and treat diabetes complication. CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition which suppresses synthesis of AGEs(advanced glycation end products) contains 0.1-50 wt% of a Prunella vulgaris var. lilacina extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared using water. The pharmaceutical composition suppresses synthesis of AGEs and prevents and treats diabetes complication. The pharmaceutical composition prevents and treats diseases selected from Alzheimer's disease, uremia, microangiopathy, cataract, or Parkinson's disease.
