A method for controlling the topology of a wireless sensor network includes the steps of: controlling the activation operation and the inactivation operation of a plurality of sensor nodes in a cluster according to an activation operation order and a preset duty cycle in an operation period; detecting the data traffic of the activated sensor node according to control; setting at least one target sensor node for activation to be activated in the following operation period among the sensor nodes in the cluster based on the detection result of the data traffic of each sensor node; setting the activation operation order for a continuous operation period based on the target sensor node for activation; and controlling the sensor nodes to alternatively activate during the continuous operation period based on the activation operation order.
